Trash Can Bandit

This Plush is the Forth plush I've designed for my series of "Surprise Plushies". A series of plushies hiding in simple objects. I usually sketch my concepts digitally, but I wanted to do some sketches in pencil that day. If your scroll threw the images you will see it took a few tries to get the shape of the face and embroidery placement right. The banana and trash can were much more simple. I just mimicked the shape of a banana peel for the banana pattern, and the trash can was simply some math and measurements to make everything work. This is definitely one of the more complex plushies I've made and I can't wait to use what I've learn to make even more fun designs.

Carrot Surprise

Carrot Surprise is the the Third plush I've designed for my "Surprise Plushie" series. The finally design definitely change quite a bit from the original concept, but for the better. The bunny was not too difficult to make a pattern for, it took about three tries to perfect the pattern. The carrot was a bit more complicated due to the shape and sewing ridges on a curved triangle. The images don't show this but there's actually a fabric barer in the center of the carrot. The Bunny Needed something to hold it up to give the plush it's fun peekaboo effect and the tip of the carrot needed some stuffing to hold its shape. The top of the carrot also has this but its used to make an indent in the top for the leaves. It was a lot of fun to make and gave me some interesting challenges to work out. Learned a lot from This plush!

Milk Carton Surprise

The second "Surprise Plush" is the milk carton cow. I used some scrap fabric to make the concept plush, which is why its purple and green. The spots were a difficult case in the beginning since I didn't have an embroidery machine at the time. so there was a lot of debating whether I wanted the spots printed on the fabric or sewn on. Sewn on looked better but took a lot of time. In the end though I ended up getting an embroidery machine and use the applique method. I also was able to use embroidery for the Milk cartoon Logos. I drew out a design on Clip Studio Paint and then converted the images into a embroidery pattern using Inscape.

If you scrolled threw the images you will see my favorite part of these plushies. The nutrition label! I made a Realistic nutrition label but replaced things like 20g sodium with 13g hugs or 50g serotonin. It was a lot of fun coming up with different words to put in the label. I actually want to use this idea for my next design, the honey bear!

Jack-o-lantern Surprise

This plush is the main inspiration for my "Surprise Plush" series. I decided I really wanted to make a plush Jack-o-lantern. But instead of felt or embroidered eyes, the eyes and mouth had to actually look like cut out holes from a pumpkin. It was definitely a challenge. Eventually I figured out there was only one way to make it work, and it wasn't particularly easy, but the results are exactly what I envisioned. I was actually going to put a black cat inside the pumpkin first, but after going through some other Halloween themed ideas in my head, I thought of the bat. Having a cute upside down bat pop out of the pumpkin was just too adorable. The bat was a simple pattern nothing too difficult. I decided to make the wings poseable because the bat's wings couldn't be flapping around when pulled out of the pumpkin and sewing the wings closed would take away the fun of wings. This plush is still my top selling plush on my shop and it brought a list of new fun plushies I get to design and create!

Simple Plushies

All the plushies you see here are my more simple designs from my first 2 years making plushies. Even though these plushies have very simple designs they helped me learn more about designing and creating new plushies for people to enjoy! Most of these are made based on a simple sphere pattern. However, if you look closely you can see how I also experimented and expand my knowledge with other shapes and patterns using the sphere shape.

Commissioned Designs

VTuber Dolls

These plushies are Plush versions of the VTubers Haruka Karibu, Arai Shinomiya, and Nini Yuuna's character personas. The hair was honestly my favorite part. Figuring out the shapes that would convey each character's hair in the best way was a lot of fun. Adding all the cute details, like the roses in the antlers or drawing flowers in the skirt, was also a blast. The person who commissioned me actually sent the dolls to each of the VTubers (with credit of course) who to loved them! I used felt for the eyes since I didn't have a embroidery machine, but it was fun making each set of eyes a different shape for each character.

Giant Isopod

This giant was definitely a new territory for me. They wanted a Giant isopod plush. I'd never done anything this complex before so it was an interesting challenge. I absolutely loved how it turned out and still do! Figuring out how to layer the scales was interesting and I loved adding the legs. This was definitely the plush that pushed me to the next level in pattern making and allowed me to think more outside the box for more interesting designs.

Pepper Jo

This little penguin was my first commission. The Author of "Pepper Jo Senses Snow" contacted me and asked me to make a plush of her character Pepper Jo. At the time I did not have an embroidery machine, so the small details like the eye lashes, eye brows, and belly pattern are felt, which was handsewn on. It was a lot of work, but she was very happy with the results! She ended up ordering 10 of them for a show she was going to sell her book at. Looking back, I wish I had an embroidery machine, probably would have made it a little easier to sew that many and looked more professional, but for what I had a the time I think it turned out pretty cute!
